Oysters with Spicy Korean Gochujang Sauce
Fresh oysters grilled in the shell with a spicy gochujang, soy, sesame and ginger sauce. A fast, punchy seafood starter cooked on the BBQ.

Ingredients
- Fresh oysters (shucked)
- Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- Soy sauce
- Sesame oil
- Garlic
- Ginger
- Green onions
- Salt/rub
- Black pepper
Method
Preparation: Preheat your BBQ with Heat Beads Briquettes (Green Bag) for a direct sear setup. While the BBQ heats up, mix together gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl to create the spicy Korean sauce.
Sauce the Oysters: Place the shucked oysters on a tray and spoon the spicy gochujang sauce onto each one, making sure they’re well coated.
Direct Sear Setup: Ensure your BBQ is set to direct heat at around 200°C (392°F).
Cooking the Oysters: Place the sauced oysters on the grill and cook for 5 minutes until the edges curl slightly and the sauce is bubbly.
Serving: Remove from the grill, sprinkle with finely chopped green onions, and serve immediately as an appetizer or a side dish.
