Jalapeño Tequila Shrimp Skewers Recipe
Prawn skewers marinated in tequila, jalapeño, garlic and smoked paprika, grilled hot and finished with lime. A zesty, quick BBQ starter.

Ingredients
- 1 kg large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/4 cup tequila
- 2 jalapeños, finely chopped
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Lime wedges (for garnish)
Method
Marinate the Shrimp: In a large bowl, combine the tequila, chopped jalapeños, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix well. Add the shrimp to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes to absorb those fiery flavors.
Prepare the Barbecue: Set up your BBQ using Heat Beads for high heat. Aim for a temperature of around 230°C (450°F) to get that perfect sear on the shrimp.
Skewer the Shrimp: Thread the marinated shrimp onto skewers, making sure to leave a little space between each shrimp for even cooking.
Grill the Shrimp: Once the BBQ is hot, place the skewers on the grill. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Keep an eye on them to prevent overcooking!
Serve: Remove the skewers from the grill and serve immediately with lime wedges for an extra burst of flavor. The combination of tequila and jalapeño will have your taste buds dancing!
