Grand Final BBQ ideas

Whether you’re backing Freo, the Hawks, or perhaps no one at all, there’s no excuse not to get involved in this weekend’s major festivities – like the annual AFL Grand Final BBQs that will be taking place in backyards across Australia.

As always, we’ve got you covered with some of our best BBQ recipes and tips.

Honey Chicken Wings BBQ recipe
It’s kind of customary for us to have wings of some sort during a football game BBQ. This one has the right amount of sweet vs salty with a marinade that takes all of 5 minutes to throw together. Remember to marinate it overnight if possible, the longer the better.

Grilled Pork Cutlets BBQ recipe
Another recipe sent in by a member of our BBQ community. This one has a bit of an Asian twist and uses both Char Siu and Hoisin sauces. Both sauces are readily available in the Asian section of your supermarket. Just three simple ingredients, plus your pork cutlets, make this another quick, no-fuss BBQ recipe. Thanks for sharing, Joanne!

The Direct Cooking Method
You’ll be using the Direct Method for both the above recipes. However, there will be times where you’ll need to use the Indirect Method (for when you’re cooking roasts or other larger pieces of meat). It’s best to brush up on both so you’re ready for another flame-kickin’ BBQ season. We hope you’re just as excited as we are!

Have a great Grand Final weekend!

P.S. It’s going to be freeeezing in Melbourne on Saturday so be sure to leave extra time for your BBQ to get hot in the less than ideal conditions.
