Smoked Fireball Apples
Apples soaked in Fireball whiskey with brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg, smoked low and slow until tender. A warming BBQ dessert.

Ingredients
- 4 large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith work well)
- 1/2 cup Fireball whiskey
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
- Aluminum foil
Method
Prepare the Apples: Start by washing the apples thoroughly. Remove three-quarters of the core to create a cavity in each apple. This will hold the Fireball whiskey infusion. Create a small aluminum boat to keep the juices inside and help with the smoking process.
Make the Fireball Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine Fireball whiskey, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves completely.
Fill the Apples: Place the apples upright in the aluminum boat. Pour the Fireball mixture into each apple cavity, making sure it soaks in. Top each apple with small pieces of butter for added richness.
Wrap the Apples: Loosely wrap the base of each apple with aluminum foil, leaving the tops open so the apples can absorb the smoky flavor during cooking.
Preheat the BBQ: Fire up your BBQ using Heat Beads Briquettes, Red Bag, for indirect heat. Aim for a temperature around 225°F (107°C). Set up the BBQ for indirect cooking to get that perfect smoke infusion.
Smoke the Apples: Place the partially wrapped apples on the cooler side of the grill. Close the lid and let the apples smoke for 30-45 minutes, or until they’re tender and infused with the smoky, spiced Fireball flavor. Check the apples for tenderness.
Serve: Carefully remove the apples from the grill and let them cool slightly. Fully unwrap them and serve warm, drizzled with any leftover juices from the foil. These Smoked Fireball Apples make for an unforgettable dessert that will wow your BBQ guests!
Pro Tip: You can top these with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat!
