Real/Simple Traditional Roast Beef
The Heat Beads® Real/Simple BBQ Series celebrates simple recipes, cooked the real way – over Heat Beads® BBQ Briquettes. Try this juicy, tender roast beef.
- 2kg eye fillet beef
- Olive oil
- Cracked pepper
- Solid fuel BBQ, such as a Weber kettle BBQ
- 2.5kg Heat Beads® BBQ Briquettes
Light approx. 2.5kg of Heat Beads® BBQ Briquettes, and set up your BBQ for the ‘indirect’ method with coals on each side and an aluminium BBQ tray in the middle.
Give your beef a rub of olive oil and season generously with salt and cracked pepper.
Place the beef on the centre of the BBQ. Replace the BBQ lid and ensure the vents are open. The beef will be cooked to medium-rare when the internal temperature in the thickest part of the meat reaches 60°C.
Make sure to rest your beef, wrapped in foil, for 15-20 minutes before slicing to serve. This helps to relax the proteins in the meat, leaving it tender and juicy.
Slice into thick, hearty pieces, and serve with your favourite mustard. That simple.
