It’s great to know that there is an entire day dedicated to sharing a meal around a fire in South Africa. This day is called National Braai Day (Braai = barbecue or grill in Afrikaans).

Here are some of the braai words we learned last year. Time to brush up before the big day…

braai passenger – A person that arrives for a braai without any meat but joins in the eating
braaistard – The guy at the braai who steals your drink
braai hard – a 90s action movie about a really tough guy who braais a lot
